Nick Betts
Founder and Company Director
After a degree in Business Studies and Marketing Nick joined Frost & Sullivan Inc. in London as the company’s European Director of Public Relations.
Nick first joined the BBC in 1994 as Marketing Manager for BBC News and Current Affairs. He went on to be Head of UK and Ireland Sales for BBC Worldwide before moving to UKTV as Head of Channel Management where he was involved in the launch of eight successful channels. Nick then moved to NBC Universal as President and Managing Director of Channels for the UK and Northern Europe.
Nick returned to the BBC in 2007 as Head of Commercial & Business Development across the public service. In 2012 he became Controller of Business for BBC Drama, Films & Acquisitions, managing all financial, commercial, production management and legal aspects of the BBC drama commissioning slate and BBC in-house drama.
Latterly Nick was Managing Director of Scripted Production for BBC Studios where he sat on the Executive Board. In this role Nick led over 500 creative, business and operational staff delivering over 480 hours of comedy and drama a year including EastEnders, Holby, Casualty, Silent Witness, Father Brown, Dr Who, Luther, Les Miserables, War & Peace, Clique, Our Girl, Mrs Brown’s Boys, Upstart Crow, Still Open All Hours, Inside Number 9 and many more. During his tenure Nick led his teams in securing a number of non-BBC commissions including Good Omens and The Watch.
Nick leads on business and commercial matters for The Lighthouse.
